Siliguri
In Siliguri, West Bengal, 56 girls have been rescued by the Railway Police and two people have been arrested. These girls were rescued from New Jalpaiguri station. Officials said that when these women were caught during ticket checking, it was found that they do not even know where they are being taken. All the girls were suspected to see them traveling together. On investigation, it was found that these people were promised to get a job in Bengaluru. In such a situation, the question is that there was a promise of job in Bengaluru, so why was it being taken to Bihar.
Officials said that these women were rescued from New Jalpaiguri-Patna Capital Express late on Monday night. These saved women are between 18 and 31 years old. Officials said that these women are residents of Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar districts of West Bengal and were allegedly seduced by a false promise of getting a job in a Bangalore company. He told that he was being sent to Bihar by train. Officials said that no woman had a legitimate ticket and had only coach and berth number on their hands.
A woman and a man arrested
He said that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel suspected so many women traveling together during regular checks of the train. Later, when interrogation took place, serious discrepancies were revealed. Officials said that a man and a woman were arrested on the spot after making a contradictory statement. He said that both the accused could not make it clear that when women were promised to get a job in Bengaluru, then why were they being sent to Bihar.
Suspected of human trafficking, railway administration engaged in investigation
Officials said they failed to present any documents that offered jobs or valid reasons for travel. He informed that GRP and Government Railway Police (RPF) are jointly investigating the case from the aspect of human trafficking. RPF reported that girls have been handed over to their families.
