The vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a mission of accomplishment of water conservation as a water Ganga promotion campaign under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. This campaign has proved to be a historical initiative of public participation in the state. The campaign, which is operated from March 30 to June 30, 2025 in the state, aims to ensure conservation and revival of rivers, water sources and wetlands. The achievements of Madhya Pradesh in the field of water conservation have been appreciated across the country. Record farm ponds are being built in the state. Innovation is being done in selection of location for the field ponds. For this, the help of Sipri software is being taken.
Sipri (Software for Identification and Planning of Rural Infrastructure) software has been prepared by the State Employment Guarantee Council, Bhopal with the help of ISRO. The main objective of this software is to ensure the construction of quality structures by accurately identifying the suitable sites for water conservation. This software makes the selection of water creation sites more accurate than GIS based scientific methods.
‘Bawdi-Utsav’ celebration of saving ancient water heritage
In the Jal Ganga Promotion Abhiyan, Dewas district planted the Kannod unit of the Jan Abhiyan Parishad in the ancient Bawdi ‘Bagh Kannod’ of Dhoot Krishi Farm. Along with this, the ancient stepwell was cleaned by reciting Hanuman Chalisa and bhajan kirtan. The stepwell was decorated with lighting and lamps. The Aarti and Prasad distribution of Agnihotra Ganga ji and Narmada ji were considered as Vavadi-Utsav.
Seminar for awareness of water conservation
In the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, the Narsinghpur unit of the Jan Abhiyan Parishad organized a seminar on water and environmental protection in the village of Chinki. After the seminar, under the ‘Ek tree mother’s name’ campaign, he gave a collective plantation and gave the protection message of environment to the people. A call was made to implement environment and water conservation measures to fulfill the responsibility towards the generation coming to the seminar. Experts showed measures to conserve water during the upcoming monsoon days.
Under the Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign, the Village Development Committee organized the Jal Chaupal at the Adarsh village of Silvani development block in Raisen district. In Chaupal, the importance of water conservation was explained to the villagers by calling for participation in the water Ganga Promotion Campaign. In the village, the village was encouraged to make pits, build rams and keep the river, ponds, wells clean. All the villagers were also administered the oath of water conservation and promotion.
