Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has directed the formation of a multi-regional central team in Himachal Pradesh by looking at the frequency and intensity of natural disasters. In a meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, it was felt that Himachal Pradesh has increased the frequency and intensity of cloudburst, sudden floods, landslides and torrential rainfall, causing widespread loss of life, infrastructure and livelihood damage and environmental erosion in the state.
Amit Shah immediately ordered the formation of a multi-regional central team of experts at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorological (IITM), Georginals (IITM), Geologist and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore.
In addition, in view of floods, sudden floods and landslides during the southwest monsoon in various parts of Himachal Pradesh, the central government has already sent an inter-ministerial central party (IMCT) to directly assess the loss, without waiting for their memorandum. This inter-ministerial central party will visit the affected areas of the state from 18 to 21 July.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government stands firmly with the states without any discrimination at the time of disasters. In this direction, a high -level committee headed by Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah has already approved a outlay of Rs 2,006.40 crore to Himachal Pradesh for rehabilitation and reconstruction in areas affected by floods, landslides and cloudburst for the year 2023 and has already released the first installment of Rs 451.444 crore to Himachal Pradesh to Himachal Pradesh.
In addition, to help the affected people of the state, the Central Government has already released the first installment of the central stake of Rs 198.80 crore to Himachal Pradesh from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for immediate relief measures.
The Central Government has also provided all kinds of logistics assistance to all the states including Himachal Pradesh, including necessary National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, army teams and deployment of Air Force. A total of 13 teams of NDRF are deployed in the state for rescue and relief operations.
