Uddhav Thackeray’s attack on Pahalgam attack not national security, not national security

Mumbai
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on the government over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. He questioned the failure of security and accused the government of giving priority to politics and diplomacy rather than national security. In an interview to ‘Saamana’, Thackeray said, “The Pahalgam attack was shocking and outraged. We were told that the general situation in Kashmir has returned. Then how did this attack take place?”

Thackeray, who supported the cancellation of Section 370, expressed disappointment that despite big claims, the ground conditions in Kashmir are still unstable. He said, “Tourism has started again, but security has been ignored. You cannot treat any pre -disturbed field as if everything is ‘fine’ and reduce your safety.”

Referring to the murder of 26 innocent civilians in the attack, he asked, “Thirty-six women lost their vermilion. Who is responsible for wireing the honor of our mothers and sisters?” He also expressed concern on how the terrorists managed to infiltrate the Indian region so much inside. He “even after three months of the attack, the terrorists have not been detected. First their pictures were released, then they were rejected. They came, attacked and disappeared. Where did they go?”

Thackeray also surrounded the government over repeated claims by US President Donald Trump. Trump claims that he intervened to prevent a potential India-Pakistan war. To this, Thackeray asked, “Trump has said 27 times that he stopped the war. Why is our ’56 -inch chest’ Prime Minister silent on this?”

Targeting the ‘Operation Sindoor’ campaign launched after the attack, Thackeray said that the might of the army was politicized. Our army crossed the border, but why were they called back? Why the government was forced to back down? This is still a mystery. “

He also sarcasted the internal age policy of the BJP and questioned whether Prime Minister Modi would retire at the age of 75. He said that leaders like LK Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi were forced to step down at the age of 75. Will PM Modi follow his own rules? ” Thackeray accused the BJP of breaking the Shiv Sena and said that the people in power are no longer ready to respect the constitution.
