Bail was granted in gold smuggling case but Ranya Rao did not release, Kannada actress's mother knocked on HC's door

Kannada actress Ranya Rao and accused Tarun Kondaru Raji in the gold smuggling case were granted bail by the Special Court of Economic Offenses on Tuesday, 20 May. The court has asked them to fill two bails and bonds of Rs 2-2 lakh. Apart from this, there are some other conditions, but the actress will be in custody despite bail.

The court has also granted bail to Ranya Rao and Kondaru Raju on the condition that they cannot leave the country and will not repeat the crime. The bail order was passed by Justice Vishwanath C Gaudar who was hearing the case. According to a report by news agency ANI, Ranya Rao’s lawyer BS Girish argued before the court that even if the actress gets bail, she will not be released.

Ranya Rao will be in custody

It was reported that a case has been registered against Ranya Rao under Cofeposa (Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smugging Activities Act, 1974). Now the actress’s mother has challenged this act in the Karnataka High Court. Explain that Kofeposa is a law that aims to prevent smuggling and conserve foreign exchange.
Ranya Rao was arrested

Ranya Rao cannot be released until he gets bail even in the Kofeposa case. The actress was arrested on 3 March at Bengaluru International Airport. About 14.2 kg of gold rod was found from him, which was worth more than Rs 12.56 crore.
