Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Wednesday that the work of the Gujarat part of the bullet train corridor between Vapi and Sabarmati is planned to be completed by December 2027 and the entire project from Maharashtra to Sabarma Section is expected to be completed by December 2029. He gave this information in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Vaishnav said that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project (508 km) is under construction from Japan with technical and financial assistance.
He said that the project will pass through Gujarat, Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and plans to stop at 12 stations in Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati.
Gujarat part will be completed by December 2027
Vaishnav said, “The Gujarat part of the corridor between Vapi and Sabarmati is planned to be completed by December 2027. The entire project (Sabarmati section from Maharashtra) is expected to be completed by December 2029. ”
The total estimated cost of the project is around Rs 1.08 lakh crore
The minister said that the total estimated cost of the project is around Rs 1,08,000 crore, out of which Japan International Cooperation Agency is funding 81 percent i.e. 88,000 crore rupees and the remaining 19 percent i.e. Rs 20,000 crore will be funded through the Railway Ministry (50 percent) and Maharashtra (25 percent) and Maharashtra (25 percent) and Gujarat (25 percent) governments.
