The Indore-Dahod new railway line project has been working on a war footing for the last three years. This 204 km long project is being completed in different sections. After the railway connectivity on the Indore-Tihi section, now the work of Dhar section is going on.

In this section, the finishing of 2.9 km long tunnel is going on at a cost of 270 crores. In the Tih-Dhar section, the work is being done rapidly in 46 km part of the railway line, economy, station building, ROB, underpass etc.

Tunnel final finishing continues

Railways have set a target to complete the tunnel work by September, so that the train operation between Indore-Dhar can start by December. After the formation of the tunnel, final finishing is now being done. So far, the lining work in 800 meters has been completed.

Five machines have been working simultaneously for a month. Waterproof Jio Textile and Memarine are being installed through gentry to prevent water leakage. Even after this, a drain line has also been made in the event of water leakage. According to railway officials, track laying work will also be started in half of the tunnel this month.

Tunnel at a glance

In 2007-08, the Railways acquired eight hectares of land.
Instead, he gave compensation of about four crore rupees.
Use of land of 15 meters width in a radius of three km.
Two lakh 34 thousand cubic meters debris was extracted from the tunnel.
So far, the tunnel in 800 meters has been fully prepared.

CPRO of Western Railway Vineet Abhishek said that the Indore-Dahod railway project is very important. Due to the operation of the train here, the distance of the rail route between Indore-Mumbai will be reduced. After independence, now the areas of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat including Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, which were untouched by train till now, will get train facilities.

Along with this, Goods of Pithampur Industrial Area will go directly to Mumbai, South and other ports directly. There will be connectivity of the railway line for multi -logistics park from Sagaur railway station itself. The park is being built about three km from the station.

Tunnel work going on for 6 years

The work of Tihi Tunnel was the most important in the Indore-Dahod railway line. The work of making a three -kilometer long tunnel for 6 years was going on. Its civil work was completed by the Railways last year. Talking about the front part of the tunnel, the railway has laid the track between finishing to Pithampur, Pithampur to Guuni.

Soon Dhar will be connected to Indore. This project was approved in the year 2008. Which did not propose the first tunnel. The tunnel was added to the project since later. Tenders were issued in the year 2017-18. After this work started, but Corona was started. Tenders were issued in 2017-18. After this work started. However, after Kovid, the Railways freeze the project and terminated the tender.
