No ATM card? Lost or left at home? Now it does not matter. Technology has found a solution to this problem, cardless cash withdrawal via UPI. Nowadays many banks are providing such ATM machines, through which you can withdraw cash only through the UPI app, they also without putting cards. A few selected banks in India have started this facility and gradually it is spreading throughout the country.

Step-by-step process to withdraw money from ATM without card

Step 1: Go to ATM: Go to the ATM machine and select the ‘Cardless Cash Withdrawal’ or ‘UPI Cash Withdrawal’ option on the screen.

Step 2: Scan QR Code: A QR code will appear on the ATM screen. Open any UPI app (eg PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm or BHIM) in your smartphone and scan the QR code.

Step 3: Enter the amount: Enter the amount in the UPI app as much as you want to withdraw.

Step 4: Add UPI PIN and confirm: Now add your UPI PIN and confirm the transaction.

Step 5: Get the cash: After confirmation, the cash will be removed immediately from the ATM, without putting the card, without touching the screen.

What should be kept in mind?
The UPI app should be installed and active in your smartphone.
It is mandatory for your bank account to be linked to the UPI app.
This facility is available only in those ATM machines, which have UPI-enabled cash withdrawal system.
The cash withdrawal limit of each bank can vary (eg ₹ 5,000 or ₹ 10,000 per day).
The transaction may fail due to the delay in network or OTP/PIN – so keep the internet connection good.

Which banks are providing this facility?
Many major banks of India are now providing UPI based cardless cash withdrawal facilities. These include:

Hdfc bank
Icici bank
State Bank of India (SBI)
Bank of baroda
Union Bank of India
Punjab National Bank (PNB)

This facility is available in select ATMs of these banks, and it is expected to apply at PAN-India level soon.
