Supreme Court agrees to hear the issue of 27 percent reservation for OBC in MP

An important petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking 27 percent reservation in jobs and education in Madhya Pradesh. The petitioners say that the law was decided by the state government in 2019, this reservation has not been implemented yet, while there is no restriction of the Supreme Court. On Friday, advocate Varun Thakur presented a case before the Supreme Court bench on this petition filed by the petitioner Nishchai Sonbse and others. He said that this law has not been implemented on the basis of the advice of the Advocate General of Madhya Pradesh, while it is unfair to do so. Thakur demanded an early hearing from the court, which, accepting which a bench headed by Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan has assured the hearing next week.

In Madhya Pradesh, a petition was filed in the SC to ensure the implementation of the 2019 law brought to provide 27 per cent reservation for OBCs. Some candidates of Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission say that the government is not deliberately implementing it despite not having any stay on this law in itself.

On Friday, June 20, advocate Varun Thakur put the entire case in front of a bench headed by Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan and demanded a early hearing. The bench has assured to hear the next week. Due to this, new hope has arisen among the youth of OBC class preparing for all the recruitment examinations.

The petition said that in 2019, the state government had passed a law to increase OBC reservation from 14 percent to 27 percent. Despite this, it has not been implemented yet. The petitioners also say that when there is no adjournment by the court on this, it is legal to stop reservation on the basis of Advocate General’s opinion.
