Islamabad
The only runway of Pakistan’s Rahim Yar Khan Airbase was completely ruined in the attack by the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor. The damage on this airbase can be gauged from the fact that its runway is still closed. For the third time, Pakistan has carried forward the ban on flight operations due to repair of this runway, which clearly indicates that the seriousness of the loss caused by the Indian attack was quite high.
In the recently released Notam (Notice to Airmen) by Pakistan, it has been said that the runway of Rahim Yar Khan Airbase will now be closed for flights till August 5. There is no concrete reason in the notice, only it has been said that the repair work is going on.
Notice was issued on 10 May
The first notam was released on 10 May, that is, on the same day when India carried out air strikes under Operation Sindoor. It was told in the notice that the runway of this strategic airbase located in Punjab province will be unavailable for operation for a week. Then on June 4, the second notam was extended till July 4 by releasing the second notam.
Military airbase and international airport also
It can be clearly seen in the high-resolution satellite photographs that Aaj Tak has received that a big and deep pit has been formed in the middle of the airbase runway. Apart from this, a building in the airbase has also suffered serious damage. It is worth noting that Rahim Yar Khan is an airport where Sheikh Zayed International Airport is also located along with military airport.
PM Modi also mentioned in the rally
This airbase was one of the 11 military locations that India targeted under Operation Sindoor. The operation was done in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir (in which 26 people were killed). It was only after these attacks of India that Pakistan had approached for ceasefire.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also launched a scathing attack on Pakistan during an election rally in Bikaner, Rajasthan. He said, ‘Rahim Yar Khan Airbase of Pakistan is still lying in ICU, I do not know how long will be fine.’
