Torrential rain havoc in Mumbai: more than 20 accidents in 24 hours, city on alert next 5 days

The country’s financial capital Mumbai has been receiving torrential rains for the last 24 hours, which has disturbed life. Due to heavy rains, there has been water logging in many low -lying areas, causing people to face heavy problems. There are also reports of traffic jams and delay in local train services, which have increased the difficulties of Mumbaikars.

20 monsoon accidents in 24 hours
According to data released by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 47.77 mm in Mumbai city, 33.1 mm in the eastern suburb and 53.92 mm in western suburbs has been recorded in the last 24 hours. During this period, 20 monsoon -related accidents have also occurred in the city, including 7 short circuit incidents, 11 trees or their branches falling incidents and 2 houses falling parts.

However, it is a matter of relief that BMC has said that no person has been injured in all these incidents, which has given a big relief.

Next 4-5 days of heavy rain alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that Mumbai and surrounding areas may receive heavy to very heavy rains in the next 24 hours. IMD has also expressed the possibility that rain may continue in the Mumbai and MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) area for the next 4-5 days.

BMC appeals to citizens
In view of the deteriorating weather, the BMC has made a special appeal to the citizens to get out of their homes only when they are extremely necessary. Also, it is advisable to escape from waterlogging areas. In any emergency, citizens can contact the BMC’s emergency service, for which helpline numbers have also been issued.
