Torrential rains in Jammu and Kashmir: Schools closed in Reasi and Rajouri

The district administration has decided to close all government and private schools on Tuesday due to continuous heavy rains in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir for the last 12 hours. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of students and employees. In an official directive released at 9:30 am, the Chief Education Officer of Reasi said, “All government and private schools in the district will remain closed on July 22 due to bad weather conditions.”

Things are similar in Rajouri district. Heavy rains have flooded the low -lying areas. Due to the increase in the water level of Dharhali and Sakato rivers, flood -like situation has occurred in many low -lying areas. The District Magistrate of Rajouri announced that “all government and private schools in Rajouri district will remain closed on Tuesday due to bad weather.”

The administration is monitoring the situation, as continuous rains have affected waterlogging and normal life in the low -lying areas. The administration has issued advisory for security due to heavy rains in Samba district.

The Deputy Commissioner of Samba has appealed to the people to be cautious in view of the possibility of landslides and waterlogging. Advisory states that people should avoid going to areas where there is more possibility of landslides. Should avoid traveling and should not try to cross flowing drains, rivers or waterways.

Schools have been told that if a school building is found to be insecure, classes should be postponed. The administration has appealed to the people to get out of the house only when necessary and strictly follow the security instructions. Due to heavy rains, roads have been blocked in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir and waterlogging has increased in low-lying areas.
