Traffic fine of 5000 crore in UP, 3 lakh vehicles on radar, 60 thousand DL will be suspended

Lucknow
Those who break traffic rules in Uttar Pradesh will now be strict. The traffic department has launched a major campaign to recover a fine of over Rs 5000 crore. Those who break traffic rules repeatedly, their vehicles will be blacklisted and driving license (DL) will be canceled. Strict action will be taken against the vehicles which are outstanding five or more challans. Registration Certificate (RC) of these trains can also be canceled so that they cannot walk on the roads.

According to officials, the traffic department has sent a list of 3 lakh vehicles and 58,893 driving license holders to the Transport Department. The process of cancellation of license and registration of all these has started. So far, 1,006 driving licenses and 3,964 vehicles registrations have been canceled or suspended. Bareilly zone has been found to break the most traffic rules. More than 21,000 people have been identified here, out of which 5,833 DLs have been sent to cancel and 130 RCs have been marked.
In Meerut zone, 1323 people broke the rules, out of which 260 DLs have been suspended. It is recommended to suspend 1585 DL in Agra Zone and marked for cancellation of RC of over 30,000 trains. It has been recommended to take action on 4351 trains and 1820 DL in Lucknow zone. Special campaigns are being conducted to follow the rules in these areas and to reduce deaths.

Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) K.K. Satyanarayana said that a challan of thousands of crores of rupees is outstanding in the state. This is because the train owners and drivers repeatedly break the rules and do not pay the fine. He said, “RC will be blacklisted by those who are outstanding five or more invoices, so that their vehicles will become illegal. Licenses of such drivers are also being canceled so that the vehicle can be stopped carefully.”

A list has been given to the Transport Department this month, including 3,01,410 vehicles and 58,893 license holders. Officials said that many people do not fill the invoice because they feel that the courts will reduce the amount of fine. In 2021, a total of 67 lakh trains were challaned, imposing a fine of Rs 867 crore. By 2024, the number of invoices increased to 1.36 crore, but the recovery was only Rs 105 crore. This shows how much fine is outstanding.

Officials said that a campaign is going on in the entire state, in which action is being taken not only on repeated rules, but also paying attention to road safety issues. This campaign is part of the road safety strategy of Uttar Pradesh. Its aim is that people should not drive carelessly, follow traffic rules and recovery of fine on time.
